Our History
The Galveston (TX) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. was officially chartered on December 2, 1950, by a group of dedicated men who were either educators or professionals in the business world. These founding members were instrumental in shaping the history and development of Galveston and the surrounding areas.
Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. was founded on January 5, 1911, at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. The fraternity was established to provide a supportive network for African American men during a time of significant racial discrimination. The founders envisioned a fraternity that would foster achievement in every field of human endeavor.
Our chapter has proudly upheld this vision, contributing to the growth and success of our community through various initiatives. From educational scholarships to community service projects, we have remained steadfast in our commitment to making a positive impact.
Over the decades, the Galveston (TX) Alumni Chapter has grown and evolved, but our dedication to the principles of Kappa Alpha Psi remains unwavering. We continue to honor the legacy of our founders by striving for excellence in all our endeavors.
