Are You Okay?

It’s time to have the conversation—Black/African American men face unique mental health challenges. Despite 21% reporting mental illness, only 39% of our brothers receive appropriate services and care. This disparity is especially alarming given 20% of Black men are more likely to experience serious psychological distress, often exacerbated by systemic racism. It’s crucial to create culturally responsive treatments and undress unmet needs, as 56-74% of Black males exposed to trauma may require mental health services.

Let’s prioritize mental health in the African American community. Encourage conversations, seek help when needed, and advocate for accessible, culturally sensitive mental health services. Your mental health matters! #MentalHealthAwareness #AreYouOK
