Houston, TX - The Galveston Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha
Psi Fraternity, Inc held a car wash fundraiser at Denny's
Restaurant, 2316 Southmore on Saturday, May 30 to benefit its newly
formed 501(c)(3), ICARE Foundation. Proceeds will be used to send
Tolen Avery (Central Middle School) to Kappa Kamp, June 14-28 in
Piney Woods, MS. Click

Houston, TX - On Sunday, April 5, 2009, members of the Galveston Alumni Chapter participated in their 2nd annual service project for the Avon Breast Cancer Walk located at Stude Park. The chapter was well represented as members assisted with the Closing Ceremony and much more. Click here to see photos of the event.

Texas City, TX - The Galveston Alumni Chapter will be hosting its
annual Mardi Gras Gala on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at the Charles
T. Doyle Convention Center in Texas City, Texas. Donations and
contributions benefit the newly formed GAC ICARE Foundation, the
Wright-Cuney Center and the continuing work of this Chapter to
support the youth of Galveston County.

December 22, 2008

LaPorte, TX - The Galveston Alumni Chapter of
Kappa Alpha Psi partnered up with Big Brothers Big Sisters to adopt
a family for the holiday season. The chapter donated a basket of
food including turkey and fixings and several gifts to a family that
had been relocated to Texas after Hurricane Katrina. The family
currently lives in LaPorte, TX and consists of a grandmother, a single mother diagnosed with a terminal disease, and her
two children. The chapter would also like to thank Rosalind Moore of BBBS for her help in finding a family and presenting our holiday
basket to them.

September 27, 2008

Houston, TX - The voters registration drive
held on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at Sharpstown Mall, with
Houston and Missouri-City/Sugarland Alumni Chapters, was a success.
A big thank you to everyone who volunteered and those who were able
to attend. For those that wanted to be there but couldn't, we
appreciate your support in spirit. Between the 3 chapters, it's
estimated approximately 90 registration forms were collected. Again,
thank you for all you do. It's much appreciated.

GAC participates in School Supply Drive and Charity Basketball Game
with Party 93.3
Galveston, TX - The brothers of the Galveston
Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. participated in a
charity basketball game against Party 93.3 FM radio station at the
Wright Cuney Center on Saturday, August 2, 2008. During the
halftime, the chapter presented the youth of Galveston County with
school supplies donated by the chapter and Walgreen's Drug Store in
Pearland, TX. The charity game not only equipped the youth with
materials for the upcoming school year, but also provided
entertainment for everyone in the audience. This event is one of
several initiatives the Galveston Alumni Chapter has continued its
commitment to the growth of Galveston's youth and to the enhancement
of the Wright Cuney Center.

GAC Visits Ronald McDonald House
Galveston, TX - The brothers of the Galveston
Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. participated in a
bingo night on June 27, 2008 at the Ronald McDonald House of
Galveston. This house serves as a “home away from home” for families
of children who are seeking medical attention at the University of
Texas Medical Branch, Shriner’s Hospital for Children, and
Transitional Learning Center. The event was definitely enjoyable for
everyone and the chapter looks forward to doing future projects with
the house.

Galveston Alumni lends a "Helping Hand" to the 1st ever Avon Walk
for Breast Cancer
Houston, TX - The Galveston Alumni Chapter
served as event volunteers in the first ever event held in Houston.
As volunteers, the chapter provided support in the form of event
setup, crowd control, and other support as needed. The event raised
more than $1.9 million dollars for communities in and around
Houston. The Fraternity was the only Greek letter, African-American,
male organization to participate in the event.

Westlawn Elementary Career Day
Galveston, TX - Members of Galveston Alumni
participated in the Westlawn Elementary Career Day held on Friday,
March 14th from 8:00am - 10:30am. Career representatives were
introduced and escorted to assigned areas by student council
members. Students visited with career representatives
stationed in different parts of the building. Members of Galveston
Alumni were career representatives.

Galveston Alumni hosts Mardi Gras Gala
Galveston, TX - The Galveston Alumni Chapter

the Galveston Hilton Resort. Donations and contributions were in
support of the Wright-Cuney Center and the continuing work of this

Guide Right In Action: Wright-Cuney Center
Galveston, TX - Members of the Galveston Alumni Chapter and youth
from the Wright-Cuney Center take a group photograph following a
Guide Right and mentoring session held last November. Lunch was
provided and the youth were entertained with a spirited basketball
